Maui.

Words can't express how I feel about Hawaii. I know that the Lord guides you in the right direction when you seek his help. David and I have been so blessed to live in Hawaii. So many life changing opportunities have been given to us since we decided to move here in 2007. David has graduated at the top of his class Summa cum Laude, met so many wonderful people who care about us and are helping us everyday, I am majoring in social work and have met so many wonderful teachers who are willing to do anything for me. I love it here. I can't imagine the day when we will have to leave. I will surely be heart broken. But hopefully we won't leave for awhile so we won't talk about that. Hawaii is truly a beautiful place with beautiful people. You have your stubborn Hawaiians who hate howleys (which we have met) but other then that I love the people here. They are so inviting and loving. I was walking one at the beach and there was a big family gathering in someones back yard, as I was walking by I hear people yelling at me so I look and they are saying, "come eat" they had a lot of food and they wanted me to come eat some. So i did what any person would do I ate. If you know Polynesians you know they cook a lot of delicious food and eat a lot of food. I didn't know one person there but I was introduced to a red hot dog. The hot dogs are super red, and no I didn't ask why they are red and I still don't want to know. All I know is they are good and if I find out why they are red I won't eat them anymore.

So my title says Maui so I guess I should talk about Maui. I have just been thinking about Hawaii in general a lot and I love it. I love that this part of my life is spent here with David and we will make memories and best friends here.

Anyways, we went to Maui with our friends Mike and Katie. We had an amazing time. We woke up at 4:30am to head to the airport for our 25 min flight to Maui which felt like a 3 min flight to me. We landed and got our rental car. I have always wanted to own a Jeep in real life. Well after all four of us and our luggage I can now say I don't want a Jeep. Maybe a four door jeep because they have a lot of trunk space. So we were pretty close to the road to Hana, so we decided to drive it our first day there, which I still think was a good idea, even though we were tired and Mike fell asleep and a construction worker yelled at him to wake up!. We drove this long and I mean long curvy, scary road. The speed limit was 10 which a lot of people didn't follow (semi trucks). I thought we were going to die a few times. I literally closed my eyes and hoped the trucks wouldn't hit us. At one point David and to throw the Jeep in Reverse because a semi truck ran through the yield sign and was coming straight for us on a one way street. After us almost hitting the mountain and another car (over exaggerated) we lived. The water falls were beautiful. We were able to see a lot of them from the road. Which we were very happy about because we had our luggage in the jeep and one person had to at least sit with it so no one would steal our stuff. Another reason why I wouldn't want a jeep. Unless it had a hard top on. We were able to go to a few black sand beaches one called Honokalani located at Wainapanapa State Park. (I knew Mom would like the name) We were able to go in a lava tube which was really awesome. So after our long day on the road to Hana we decided to head to our living courters for the next 5 days. We had no idea how wonderful and amazing Kapalua resort would be. Our condo was gorgeous. It was two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a laundry room and beautiful kitchen. None of us wanted to come back to TVA again. We were right on the golf course and over looked the ocean. The best part was a spa had just opened up so for the month of September the facility was free to those staying in the resort. It will normally be $60.00 a day to use the facility, so believe me we took advantage of it. The resort workers loved having us there because we were young and it would draw more attention to the customers taking their tours and what not. Let me just tell you how wonderful this place was. I will give you and example of one of our days there. We woke up and went to the gym. I was able to watch my own personal TV the whole time I worked out. My Ipod plugged in to any machine and they provided us with head phone (thank goodness because I forgot mine) they had towels and lime water for us. After working out we then went and rinsed off in the showers. They provided us with shampoo, conditioner, razors, and shaving cream, mouth wash, hair brushes, q-tips. femanine products, deodorant, hairspray and more. After rinsing off in the shower we laid out at the pool. The pool had salt water. But the salt level was the same count as the human body level so you could hardly taste it. You could see clearly in the water. So we laid out and drank our lime water and they provided ather fruits as well. A man would bring us pineapple skewers and make sure we were all using their yummy smelling sun block. We then did a black sand scrub to our elbows and feet and sat in the steam room. After the steam room we walked through the 40 degree water fountain that led to the hot tub. We then took showers and did our hair and make up at the spa. This place was amazing. The boys enjoyed many rounds(?) of golf. Katie and I walked to the Ritz Carlton and enjoyed their pools as well. We drove to Lahaina to eat, shop, and just relax. This vacation was the coolest vacation ever. I did not want to come home at all. I love Maui and that it is not crowded like Oahu. We drove around the Island and went to different surf spots and what not. We all had an amazing time and I wish that I could document it how I truly felt. I have grown to love Hawaii. I love it more and more each day. I hate being far away from family but I know that this is where we need to be at this time.

I love that David looks like a bum in this picture!

I was really excited about the black sand.

Maui is so green and lush.
