Phi Kappa Phi

Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective honor society for all academic disciplines. Its chapters are on more than 300 campuses in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Each year, approximately 30,000 members are initiated.

Since its founding, Phi Kappa Phi has initiated more than 1 million members into its ranks; all of these members have received emblems and certificates of membership. However, Phi Kappa Phi is much more than an emblem and a line on a résumé. It is a global network comprised of the best and brightest from all academic disciplines—a community of scholars and professionals building an enduring legacy for future generations.

David is in the top 10 percent of his class, he was nominated to be a member of
Phi Kappa Phi. How exciting! David has done and still is doing very well in all his classes. Last week we attended an invitational welcoming to the Phi Kappa Phi students, where each student was nominated in their category of glory(I call it that anyways). David was honored in Business Government Politics, a lot of his teachers were there and very proud of him. The event was followed by a really delicious dinner. I forgot my camera so I took a picture of David when we got home.

2 years!

Two years ago today David and I were having dinner in Sacramento at Morton's Steak House, when he asked me to marry him.

For those who don't know the story yet, David took me to Morton's for our one year anniversary. David had it all planned out, he called the steak house and had my own menu made that said ELISSA WILL YOU MARRY ME? LOVE DAVID.
Of course being me I didn't even notice it! haha
I was just so hungry I was looking at all the food. David even told me to look up and I looked at the ceiling. I was so confused. Then the waiter pulls the table out so David can get on one knee and I ask uummm David is someone else eating with us? He laughs and said, Elissa look at the top of your menu. Then that's when my jaw dropped in shock! I had no idea he was going to ask. He asked and I was like is this a joke? He made it very clear to me that we wouldn't be getting married anytime soon. He would say I was to young.(My sister and I talked about me moving to Utah with her because we thought he was waisting my time) That's how well he played it all off. I kept asking is this a joke? Are you serious? I thought you said I was too young? I thought you said in a few years!? David laughed and said, I'm pretty good a tricking you aren't I? Ohhh ya he was! I was always confused because I knew from praying about it that I should be with him but I never understood David. But it turns out he had it all planned out! And I'm glad he did it this way! It was an amazing night and experience for me that I will always remember!
So this morning I made David breakfast and said HAPPY 2 YEAR ENGAGEMENT! He looked at me all weird and said oh is it the 11Th already! So I have had my beautiful ring on my finger for 2 years and looking forward to wear it for many many more to come.
This is a gross picture. But I love our faces!

Crouching Lion Hike

Yesterday we went on a hike with our friends, Michael, Kaitlin, Michael and, Katie. (we call them our twin friends)
We hiked crouching lion mountain. It was an awesome hike. David wasn't to thrilled to go but in the end he had a lot of fun. On this hike you seriously have to climb up using your hands on rocks to pull you up. Also there are spots where the trail is so narrow that on either side of you there are cliffs. I think David thought I was going to die on the way down because I would pretty much just let myself slide down the mountain while walking fast and one time i was going to fast that i grabbed a branch and swung down a part of the trail. I didn't even mean to do it but it was cool.

It was really amazing to see Hauu'la, Laie, the temple, Kahana valley, and the beautiful ocean. I loved it. At one point we saw a Helicopter and we were just as high if not higher then it. David's hair is getting pretty long and it was windy so his hair looked so cute all day! As you can tell in his picture with his overly happy smile.

The view from the top of the mountain was so beautiful.

The bees in Hawaii are HUGE! They freak me out.
This Hike was amazing and I can't wait to do many more!
We love Hawaii!

Egg Nog!

Last night David and I were at Costco. To our surprise we stumbled upon this!(well not this exact one, who gets light?)

If your a Taylor then you already know that this is a huge deal! My mouth dropped with excitement as I saw the carton of Egg Nog. The Holiday season has officialy begun. Now it is time to drink all the egg nog we can until it is gone!
On halloween David and I were at the store and he goes "hey Elissa EGG NOG" I about freak out and run over there and he is just laughing, so of course I knew he was lying by then! But we have it now!
Last year my Dad was on a "diet" and didn't drink any egg nog. (so he said) But lets see if he will do that again!
Since it is always hot and we don't have seasons here, it's nice to have egg nog around and know we will be home for Christmas.
